Nursery pupils learn about knights and dragons

The ante-preschool Squirrels class at the nursery had a lot of fun recently exploring knights and dragons!
Inspired by the children’s love of all thing dragon themed, staff provided a variety of opportunities for learning across the curriculum ranging from dragon hunting in the sprawling 50 acres of grounds to jousting in the medieval inspired arena.
As part of the project children began a quest to knighthood, looking after their own hobby horses and learning to care for them. As squires the pupils learned about jousting, sword fights and chivalry.
The ante pre-school pupils are being encouraged this year to take joint responsibility for their own safety with the introduction of life skills. These skills encourage the children to be helpful, careful, respectful, responsible and patient individuals.
The Nursery held an event on Monday 23 October where parents saw the pupils defeating the dreaded green dragon the children were knighted by headmaster Mr Toley, or King of Lathallan as he is now known to the class. The children also had the opportunity to sit on Toffee the pony who was dressed in medieval style.
