Pupils in Junior 5 were treated to a visit on Wednesday 31 May by the famous artist Lesley Seeger. The children welcomed her with a display of their work inspired by her paintings. Lesley attended Ripon Grammar School in North Yorkshire and is a renowned artist who paints landscapes both imagined and observed and likes places off the beaten track where nature is strong. A belief in the importance of beauty is a hallmark of her work. There are many layers to Lesley’s paintings which mirror the history and changes of a landscape and the complex strata of our lives.
In between exhibitions Lesley paints to commission specialising in capturing ‘a sense of place.’
Once the children had shown Lesley their work they all ventured into the walled garden and did a wonderful outdoor workshop with her.
