Beyond the Classroom

Pipes & Drums

The Lathallan School Pipe Band has a long history, and many pupils have enjoyed learning to play the chanter, pipes and drums within the School walls. In recent years the Pipe Band has grown to over thirty boys and girls, as pupils recognise the importance of taking part in the amazing musical opportunities available in this high-profile band.

The Lathallan School Pipe Band celebrated its 53rd Anniversary in 2016. In the past, the band has been involved in a number of fantastic musical opportunities, including playing ‘Flower of Scotland’ at Scotland vs Tonga International at Pittodrie, opening the Glasgow Sevens tournament, and taking part in a major Scottish festival in Belgium to crowds of thousands.

The pipe band won the grade 4 contest at Strathmore Highland Games held at Glamis Castle in 2016.

in 2015 in being placed first in the under 18s Novice category. We still hold this place as the games were called off in 2016.

We also achieved a new best result by claiming first overall in the adult Grade 4!

The band performed in the 2017 Tartan Week in New York at the parade and other landmarks including Intrepid Museum, the Statue of Liberty and Bryant Park.
