Community Chess Project

Community Chess Project

The School has started a Community Chess Project. This term the school pupils have played chess at Johnshaven Lifeboat House with pupils from Johnshaven Primary School on Friday afternoons, this will continue until the Christmas break.
The school hopes to play a different primary school each term. The project hopes to help more pupils at local schools enter a team in the North East Schools championship which takes place in Aberdeen each year.
Headmaster at Lathallan School, Richard Toley said “This project is a great opportunity for all budding chess players and we hope that it will help develop confidence in our players and the pupils at other local schools.”
Headteacher at Johnshaven Primary School, Karen Johnstone said ““Annabelle (pictured) is one of 16 children from Johnshaven School who are having great fun taking part in the Community Chess Club with the pupils from Lathallan. They are learning many fantastic hints and tips to further develop their game.”
