During the weekend of 12 and 13 May the S3 year group took part in their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Qualifier in the hills behind Newtonmore in Strathspey. The weekend started well with clear skies and warm weather. The pupils arrived prepared and motivated at their respective campsites earlier and in better spirits than during the practice. The sunset was magnificent. Overnight the weather deteriorated which gave the pupils the opportunity to see how well water drains off land with a mica schist bedrock. The clouds cleared and weather improved allowing the expedition to end in broad sunshine and clear skies. Some pupils tackled their first Munro successfully during the training and qualifier and were given their own Harvey Munro Wall Chart to record other successful days in the hills.
A great expedition was had by all!
