The J7 class and their teacher Mrs Martin along with 4 parents (Mrs Dolin, Mrs Hicking, Mrs Kinkead and Mrs Stewart) carried out a Beach Clean at St Cyrus Nature Reserve. The class had been spurred on to do more for the environment after the recent Junior School Debate on ‘Plastic is beneficial’ where some of them were Key Speakers. The pupils’ research, as part of the preparation for the debate, encouraged a great interest in the pollution of the seas and oceans. The class decided to play their part in helping the environment by cleaning up one of the local beaches. They worked in groups and all had tasks and shared the responsibility.
Everyone was prepared for the cold weather and the task in hand and understood how important it was to pick and record litter types which will be used to form graphs and statistical information.
