The J5-J7 held their recent debate on Thursday afternoon. The motion was: This House Considers that Fighting Games are Good. The pre debate vote indicated 17 in favour and 24 against. Virtually every pupil in the three classes spoke, most several times. There was a range of arguments put forward involving considerations of respect for each other, convention and regulation, resilience, physical injury and mental health. The debate ran out of time and had to be brought to a halt after 50 minutes and exactly 100 speeches. The post debate vote saw a small swing in favour of the motion which was still defeated by 19 to 22. The House Competition (with adjustments for different numbers in each House) saw a win for Livingstone (78); Scott 2nd with 62 and Nelson in 3rd with 56.
