Riding for the disabled win YPI funding

Pupils in S3 studying Business Management are taking part in the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative. The pupils researched local charities and decided on a charity to represent in their groups. Every year YPI donates thousands of pounds to local charities by engaging young people with local charities.

The chosen charities this year were RDA (Riding for the Disabled), Maggie’s Cancer Care, CHSS (Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland) and Befriend a Child.

On Tuesday 5 December pupils presented to the judges and audience of their peers. The pupils spoke with confidence about the reasons why YPI should choose their charity to support. All groups performed very well on stage. The judges made the decision to award RDA the £3,000 funding.

The school’s own Piper’s Coffee Shop donated funds for the remaining charities. Maggie’s received £300, the second RDA group received £200, CHSS received £100 and Befriend a Child received £50.

The winning pupils will attend the 10th Anniversary presentation of YPI in June.
