S3 Business Management trip to Elevator

S3 Business Management trip to Elevator

Pupils from the S3 Business Management class visited Elevator recently to learn more about the work of this organisation that supports new business startups. Following an introductory session, pupils met with one of three Business Advisors to discuss their Enterprise ideas. Pupils from the newly established coffee supply business, Alder Street, and the fast growing veg box business, fresh gained valuable advice and the contact details of a Business Advisor who has agreed to support the ongoing growth and development of their business idea. Pupils have also been invited to prepare a one-minute video to pitch for the chance to win £1000 from Elavator to support the growth of their business idea. If selected for the final, pupils from each business will be required to make a 2 minute pitch in front of an audience of over 400 pupils, local business people and entrepreneurs at the AECC in October.
Due to their commitment to succeed and hard work to date, Pipers’ Coffee Shop has awarded each group a £50 startup grant to invest in promotional and support materials including a website domain. In addition, Alder Street Coffee is now being served each week at Pipers’ Coffee Shop as part of their introductory market research to establish a preferred blend to sell to the public. Alder Street branded coffee beans, filter coffee and cafetiere coffee will be on sale in Pipers’ Coffee Shop soon. The Alder Street pupils are also looking into supplying a number of local businesses with their coffee; and donating coffee to Maggies Cancer Centres as part of their commitment to Social Enterprise.  The ‘fresh’ veg boxes are available to order each week and can be collected from the Pavilion each Friday when the coffee shop is open. A recent change of supplier has meant new products are now available in each veg box. Please email fresh@lathallan.org.uk for more details. Thank you for supporting our young entrepreneurs!
