Drama

Drama has always played an integral part of the school curriculum at Lathallan, and as the senior school develops pupils will also have the opportunity to take part in theatrical production and performance.

Pupils whose interests lie in this area also have the opportunity to take additional lessons with a visiting specialist teacher leading to the examinations offered by the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

National 5

  • Unit 1 Drama Skills:In this unit learners will explore and develop a range of drama skills as an actor. They will learn how to respond to stimuli, including text. They will also learn how to develop portrayal of character in a range of ways and develop knowledge and understanding of form, structure, genre and style when creating and presenting drama. Learners will develop knowledge and understanding of social and cultural influences on drama. They will also learn how to evaluate their own progress and that of other learners.
  • Unit 2 Drama Production Skills:In this unit, learners will develop a range of production skills. They will use these skills to enhance drama when presenting. Learners will use these skills to enhance drama when presenting. Learners will use problem-solving skills in order to generate ideas for presenting drama.

Assessment: To gain the award of the course, the learner must pass both Units as well as the Course assessment. Course assessment will provide the basis for grading attainment in the Course award.

 S5 and S6: Higher
