Pupils in S5 went to the Cairngorms recently as part of their training for their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award. They started from the Hayfield and made their way t the first camp – at The Saddle above Loch Avon. Th next day pupils climbed Cairngorm 1250m in the morning after breakfast, they then went back to camp for lunch, put their heavy packs back on and made their way up the second munro of the day – Bynack More 1089m. Pupils came off down the other side to camp at the foot of An Lurg next to streams that converge and were full of fish over 600m high!
Pupils were very lucky with the weather as dark clouds circled around dropping rain elsewhere. After the second overnight camp pupils set up An Lurg and then across onto the shoulder of Bynack more and back down toward Glenmore and the Hayfield.
