Navigation (NNAS)

NATIONAL NAVIGATION AWARDS SCHEME

The National Navigation Awards Scheme (NNAS) was established UK-wide 30 years ago to introduce navigation training to recreational outdoor activities.

Keenly supported by The Duke of Edinburgh Award’s Scheme, Combined Cadet Force, Air Training Corps, Army Cadet Force, Skill Force and others it is the lead deliverer of navigation instruction to young people.

At Lathallan we are fortunate to have our Head of Outdoor Education as a Technical Advisor for NNAS.

The children complete their Bronze and Silver Awards during curricular time, which supports them to make competent and safe independent decisions in mountainous terrain.

Please watch the video to discover more about how Lathallan encourages our pupils to be independent and healthy citizens through NNAS.

Teaching Pupils Navigation Skills
