We are incredibly proud to share that S4 pupil Andrew Fasanya (15) has been selected for the Scotland Men’s U16s squad.
Andrew will travel to Cyprus to represent his country in an international friendly triple-header. The young Scots are set to face off against hosts Cyprus, Romania, and Wales in what promises to be a thrilling series of matches.
Andrew’s journey to the international stage has been defined by power and rapid progression. Having first laced up his boots at age 10, he was quickly scouted and has spent the last five years developing his talent with Aberdeen Football Club.
Speaking on his selection, Andrew said:
“I didn’t really believe it. I didn’t think I would make it to this point. So, being selected for the U16s for Scotland was a huge thing for me. I’m really nervous and excited at the same time. I am just hoping to leave a good impression and show what I can do.”
Andrew has big ambitions for the future, noting:
My dream is to get to the highest level of football that I can… to be one of the top players from Scotland and Nigeria. If I do achieve this, it’ll be huge not just for me but for everyone who has supported me.”
At our recent Lathallan Sports Personality of the Year awards, Andrew was awarded his first Lathallan Red Cap—a tradition at the school earned by those who represent their country in sport.

Supporters can follow Andrew’s international progress live on the official Scotland National Team YouTube channel. The tournament begins on Wednesday 11 February, with Scotland facing Cyprus at 12:30pm UK time. This will be followed by a fixture against Romania on Friday 13 February at 12:30pm, and a final match against Wales on Monday 16 February at 9:00am.
