Celebrating 60 years, established in 1964.
About our Pipe Band
The Lathallan School Pipe Band has a long and distinguished history. It was first established in 1964 and over the last 60 years, we’ve seen hundreds of pupils picking up pipes and drums, many of whom build their skills and repertoire to join the band.
If you’re an Old Lathallian reading this, you’ll probably remember pipe tunes travelling through the air around Brotherton Castle or you might have been a key member of the band while at school.
We are proud to share that currently a quarter of our school roll, both juniors and seniors, participate in piping and drumming tuition.

Community
Our pipe band is not just a gathering of talented musicians, but a tight-knit community that fosters friendship, teamwork, and personal growth. Through the power of Lathallan School Pipe Band, our students learn discipline, perseverance, and the joy of performing together.

Learn the Tunes
Our current piping instructor Mr John Nevans has composed two brand-new tunes for our pipers to play at the 60th Anniversary of our Pipe Band. You are very welcome to join in with these! We have provided the videos and sheet music below. Whether you are a seasoned piper playing regularly or a bit rusty on your instrument, these resources will help you learn and master the tunes in no time.
Both my children have been involved in the pipe band over the last 8 years, they have enjoyed so many experiences and competitions. New York was definitely one of their highlights.
