On Friday 9th December, we had the joy of hosting our annual Sports Dinner in person again for the first time since the pandemic. It was fantastic to celebrate the sporting achievements of our pupils.
Lathallan pupils have been pushing themselves to achieve national and regional excellence in sport, with four of our pupils currently holding British champion titles for their age group and with more than 10% of senior school students competing at a regional or national level.
On the night, we had special guest speaker, Ross Campbell, join us to give an inspiring talk for our nominees and to hand out awards. Ross is the Assistant Manager at Montrose Football Club and the CEO or Oriam, Scotland’s National Sports Performance Centre and we thank him very much for joining us.

At the Sports Dinner, we celebrated sporting achievements by handing out red caps to our those who have achieved national honours:
- Harry Cook (S1) in Triathlon
- Adam Woodhouse (S3) for Javelin
- Ailsa Arbuthnott (S4) in Judo
- Arabella Blackburn (S4) for Cycling
- Dean Fearn (S4) in Swimming
- Ben Cranston (S6) for Mixed Martial Arts

The Sports Personality of the Year Award 2022 went to Arabella Blackburn and Dean Fearn. Dean was competing at the Scottish Short Course Swimming Championships on the night of the dinner and accepted his joint win with Arabella on a video call. He broke 4 Scottish records at the Short Course Championships and earned 2 junior titles, receiving his medals alongside Olympic winner, Duncan Scott, who received his senior titles.

It was a wonderful evening with a beautiful meal expertly prepared by Chef Carter and his team. A big thank you to them and to our pupil waiting staff that helped at the dinner.
