At the beginning of the October break, 18 of our Senior School pupils visited the beautiful North West region of Cantabria.
Their base for the trip was the charming coastal village of Isla, nestled along the breathtaking Playa de la Arena. Hotel Campomar offered stunning views of the sea and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
On their first day they took to the floor for a flamenco and Latin dance lesson before visiting Santander town, where the group explored its vibrant streets, soaked in the local culture, and indulged in some delicious traditional cuisine.
Mid-week they stopped at Caberceno Wildlife Park before Santa Juliana market for delicious churros and chocolate!
And, on the final day before heading home they explored the renowned El Soplao Caves. These underground marvels showcased formations, stalactites, and stalagmites that left our pupils in awe of nature’s wonders.
The tracker app provided a fantastic tool that allowed our parents and colleagues to stay updated on the trip and view photos of our adventures. It provided a sense of security and allowed them to share in the excitement from afar.
Miss McIlroy, Head of Modern Foreign Languages at Lathallan, reflected on the trip;
“The students were fantastic, the weather was perfect, the hotel was excellent, and the excursions were truly remarkable. I can’t wait for our next languages trip!”
She also introduced her new classroom companion, Pablo Perez de Poney, who made the journey back to Lathallan with the group.

“Embarking on a cultural and languages school trip holds many benefits for our pupils. It allows them to immerse themselves in new cultures, and develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for diversity. They also undoubtedly build their language skills, and confidence with these experiences”.
