On Saturday 17th June, our ‘Lathallan Dragons’ will take to the water for Aberdeen Boat Club’s Inter-Company Row.
This year the Lathallan School team are sponsored by IMRANDD Ltd.
The annual competition is strictly for non-rowers as an introduction to the sport. Teams receive six lessons before racing at the regatta against new teams from other companies.
Over the last month, Mr Wiltshire (Pastoral Care), Mrs Harrison (Admissions), Mr Meredith (Catering) and Mrs Saunders (Reception) have been learning the key skills and techniques with their knowledgeable cox Lynn, building confidence as a team and getting practice out on the water.

We caught up with Mrs Saunders to hear a bit more about her motivations for taking part in the Inter-Company Row, she said;
“Having found a love for dragon-boating when I lived in Dubai, I am very eager and excited to get back in a boat again. Although rowing is a very different sport and Scotland, a very different climate, I am looking forward to the challenge and the excitement of being back on the water in a team sport. I think the Inter-company row is a fantastic opportunity as a novice rower to be introduced to the sport and to be able to share the experience with friends and work colleagues is a bonus”.
If you are in or around the Aberdeen area next Saturday 17th June, please join us in cheering on the team from the banks of the River Dee. Click here for the full Regatta Day Programme.
The first races start at 1030 and the final race is scheduled for 4.40pm. Races take place every 5 minutes so it’s a tightly packed schedule.
All races will be over a course of approximately 500 metres, from the top end of the wall at Polmuir Road, to the upstream side of the Boathouse.
The first phase of the regatta will be a group competition comprising 5 groups of four crews and 2 groups of 3 crews. The second phase of the regatta will be a straight knockout (KO) competition.
Go Lathallan Dragons!
