Finlay Stripling
A Musical Prodigy
Finlay’s musical journey began in J7 under the guidance of Mr Wiltshire and his passion for music continued to flourish throughout his time at Lathallan through to S5. With the invaluable mentorship of Mr Hossick Finlay’s academic achievements were equally impressive, earning A grades in both National 5 and Higher Music, securing one of the highest marks in Scotland for each.
A Multi-Talented Performer
Throughout his time at school, Finlay actively formed and participated in various bands, showcasing his talent and entertaining both parents and pupils at numerous school events. His dedication to improving his craft led him to pursue professional singing lessons outside of school, starting from S4.
Finlay’s musical talents extend beyond singing. He is proficient in playing the piano and is self-taught on the guitar. While he appreciates all genres of music, his heart lies in jazz and musical theatre. His stage experience includes notable performances with The Aberdeen Youth Musical Theatre Company in productions like “9 to 5” and “Legally Blonde.”
A Bright Future Ahead
After concluding his studies at Lathallan, Finlay enrolled in Musical Theatre at Aberdeen College of Performing Arts, where he continued to hone his skills and participate in various productions. However, his ultimate dream was to attend The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, one of the world’s top five institutions for the performing arts.
Through rigorous auditions, Finlay successfully secured an unconditional offer and is currently pursuing a four-year Honours course in Performance Music.
As Finlay himself says, “If you can dream, you can achieve.” His journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring musicians, demonstrating the power of passion, dedication, and hard work.

The Old Lathallian Association Is open to all former pupils of Lathallan, to members of staff, past and present, and to parents. Old Lathallians can expect a regular newsletter (generally four times a year) as well as invitations to reunions and events.
