Boarding has been a feature at Lathallan since we opened our doors in 1930. As the only boarding school in Aberdeenshire, we invite children from across the globe to experience a first-class education in a truly unique setting.
Nestled between farmland, forest, and the sea, our environment influences everything we do. Our pupils live in 19th-century Brotherton Castle, offering full, flexi and weekly boarding from age 11.

Claire Paul has been appointed as Head of Boarding at Lathallan and will be moving into the Boarding House within Brotherton Castle with her family for the beginning of the next academic year. Her husband Keith Paul joins the Humanities department as our new Teacher of Geography.
Claire joins Lathallan with 14 years of experience as a Science and Chemistry teacher and pastoral leader, moving from her previous role at Portlethen Academy. Her educational philosophy focuses on supporting the whole pupil, with an emphasis on building confidence, resilience, and independence. As a qualified Restorative Practice trainer, Claire brings positive relationship-building skills to the boarding environment. She looks forward to taking on the baton to continue to nurture a strong sense of community and wellbeing within our boarding community.
Keith moves to our Geography department from Robert Gordon’s College. He is committed to inclusive classroom practices, integrating digital technologies into learning, and designing fieldwork that connects students directly with the subject.
Beyond the classroom, both Claire and Keith share a strong background in outdoor education and co-curricular programmes. Claire is a Duke of Edinburgh leader and coordinator who has managed Bronze and Silver expeditions, school ski trips, and international residentials. She is also an active runner who recently completed a marathon. Keith matches this focus on out-of-classroom development as a seasoned Educational Visits Coordinator, Duke of Edinburgh Coordinator, Combined Cadet Force Contingent Commander, and certified SRU Level 2 rugby coach.
The Paul family’s combined experience aligns closely with Lathallan’s emphasis on learning outside the classroom and community spirit. Please join us in welcoming Claire, Keith, and their two children as they settle into their new roles.
