Admissions

First steps to Lathallan

Subject to places being available in the appropriate class, pupils are admitted to the school at any point during the academic year and joining in any year group. This is particularly useful for families who may be moving to the area, as your child does not have to miss out any schooling.

For pupils wishing to join Lathallan Senior School we recommend joining the school in Junior 6 or 7 (P6 or P7) as that gives pupils a chance to discover what it’s like to be at Lathallan, make friends and therefore be comfortable with a move to the senior school the following year.

Your visit will include a meeting with the Headmaster of Lathallan School and the opportunity to meet the Head of the Junior or Senior School, as appropriate. There will be the opportunity to tour the school, and meet pupils and staff as the school goes about its daily business. We recommend that you visit during term time to gain a real impression of daily life at Lathallan. You are welcome to bring your child with you or to come alone and should allow around an hour for your visit.

Following your visit, you may wish your child to spend some time with us to get a real taste of school life. We recommend a ‘Taster Day’ during which your child can spend a full school day with us in the appropriate class. Your child will be assigned a buddy for the day who will escort him/her throughout the day.

As a non-selective school, we do not hold formal entrance tests at Lathallan. However, to ensure that Lathallan would be appropriate academic environment for your child during the day, prospective pupils will be informally assessed by academic staff. A ‘Taster Day’ can also be combined with an overnight stay in the boarding house.

Fees and Assistance

Lathallan’s ethos is centered on being inclusive. We wish to offer our unique brand of education to as many children as possible. To this end, we have a fund to offer assisted places available to families who may not be able to meet the full fee requirement. These assisted places range in value up to 100% and can be offered from Junior 1 (P1) through to S6.  For a Bursary Form please contact admissions@lathallan.org.uk
